Erika Zulkute has been actively involved in the organisation, management & promotion of numerous trainings and workshops for professionals working in the Offshore Industry, in the area of ‘Vocational & Education Training (VET)’ for the Marine, Oil & Gas & HSSE sectors, such as, NEBOSH International Technical Certificate for Oil & Gas (NEBOSH IOG), NEBOSH International General Certificate for Occupational Health & Safety (NEBOSH IGC) and OPITO Minimum Industry Standards of training for Oil & Gas (OPITO MIST), among others.

Carol Bailey is a former Country Chairman of Shell Companies in Indonesia, having held Senior Executive and Operational roles in a broad range of disciplines in the Oil & Gas and FMCG industries, throughout Asia and Europe.
In 2011, Carol settled in Cyprus providing research, advisory and consulting services to the emerging hydrocarbons and power industries in Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean region.
Michael has 44 years’ experience in Operational Risk roles with the British Army, Hong Kong Police, a Middle East intelligence service and security consultancy/training. He has worked in Europe, the Arabian Gulf, Egypt, Lebanon, Cyprus, Hong Kong and the Caribbean. He is certified by examination to CISSP – Certified Information Systems Security Professional, ISO27001 – Information Security Management Systems Lead Auditor, IACIS – Member of the International Association of Computer Investigation Specialists, DipIISec – Diploma in Security Management, International Institute of Security (UK). His consultancy/training work has covered security, safety, crisis management, business continuity, information/data systems, telecommunications, software/hardware development/integration and computer forensics. Example client types are retail, manufacturing, hotels, financial institutions, educational institutions, airports/airlines, seaports, oil/gas/petrochemicals, power/water, mining, F1 racing, coast-guard, government departments and military installations.
Lead OPITO trainer
Mike Hawley has over forty years’ experience in the Oil and Gas industry and before joining LTC held various management roles in offshore production and maintenance before leaving the industry for five years to become a Lecturer for the Robert Gordon University (RGU) in Aberdeen. In his time with the RGU Aberdeen Business School he lectured on post graduate courses delivering Strategic Management and Operations Management. Mike returned to the oil and gas industry to concentrate on developing competence assurance systems and the training required to meet competence, working in many different countries for a variety of clients. The UK Engineering and Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) hired his services as their External Verifier for Scotland, visiting ECITB approved centres to verify vocational qualifications issued by the centres. Prior to settling in Cyprus in 2012 he was the Head of Competence and Audit for one of the major International Oil Companies.
Dr. Makbul Rahim, holds a law degree from University of East Africa and currently resides in London practicing Law as the Principal MMR consultants.
He specializes in private sector development, foreign investment and capital markets development, and petroleum and mining development. He has extensive experience of legal commercial work developed over a period of over 25 years in these areas and financial and commercial laws. This work has included formulation of policy and law at senior levels taking due account of key constitutional and political considerations and sensitivities, and its implementation and the review and harmonisation of commercial laws.
Dr Rahim has worked with the interdisciplinary technical consultancy group of lawyers and economists in the Economic and Legal Section of the Commonwealth Secretariat specialising in these areas over a period of 25 years and has undertaken extensive work in these areas. He has travelled extensively to over 21 countries to undertake project work and has worked with Ministers and senior government officials and other consultants on these projects and led and supervised project teams of in house and external lawyers and economists.
Graham Fisher is a highly experienced NEBOSH IOG trainer, delivering the course since its launch in 2009. Mr Fisher has one of the highest pass rates on record for this course.
He has been delivering Health and Safety courses to NEBOSH and OPITO standards for the last five years and he has excellent communication and assessing skills and he is engaging and motivating to all trainees.
He has a deep understanding of the Oil and Gas industry since he has been employed by British Gas(BP) for 18 years working both onshore and offshore, holding positions in all aspects of the Petro Chemical Industry while he also worked for 12 years in the merchant navy in the deep sea cargo division of Gas Carriers.
David Green is a safety professional working within the Oil & Gas industry for some 20 years in both operations and construction. He has worked in various health and safety position within the Oil and Gas industry and he is currently the HSSE Manager and Leadership Team Member for the PSN / BP Onshore Compression and Terminals Integration Project (OCTIP). He has significant experience in delivering training courses and he is an excellent trainer.
Gary Lakes is the Director at Energy Program, European Rim Policy and Investment Council (ERPIC). Having been with the Middle East Economic Survey (MEES) for more than 22 years, Gary has tracked hydrocarbon projects in the East Mediterranean Sea, the Caspian Sea/Central Asia region, and North Africa. He has reported on and analyzed the geopolitical developments in these areas in relation to the international oil and gas industries. His previous assignments while at MEES have been those of Caspian Editor and North Africa Editor. Prior to joining MEES, Gary worked at a number of regional publications that dealt with energy and economic issues including Middle East Banking and Finance Magazine, The Middle East Times, and Arab Press Service. While at MEES, Gary launched and maintained a section specifically addressing the rise of the oil and gas industry in the Caspian Sea littoral states of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.
Gary has followed the evolution of a nascent hydrocarbon industry in the Eastern Mediterranean since the mid-2000’s when the countries in the region first began their efforts to ascertain the value of offshore drilling.
George Chr. Pelaghias holds degrees in History (M.A.), and Law (LL.M) from Uppsala University, Sweden. He works as a legal consultant, specializing in international corporate and tax matters, and the development of hydrocarbon legislation and policies of the EU and the Republic of Cyprus. Mr. Pelaghias is the Executive Director and Program Coordinator of the European Rim Policy and Investment Council (ERPIC), a Cyprus-based think-tank dealing with geopolitical, legal and energy issues in the in the Eastern Mediterranean basin. He is a frequent speaker on geopolitics and hydrocarbon developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, and Cyprus in particular.
Dr. Kamsaris presently holds academic positions as Chairman of the Academic Board at Bilston College in the United Kingdom, Professor at Monarch University in Switzerland and Visiting Professor at Universities in the UK, France, Greece, Cyprus, and Denmark.
Having a lengthy and broad professional experience in top managerial positions in multinational companies around the world (eg; CEO for Decoration and Paint Systems Constructions in Greece, Managerial positions at Coca Cola, Sherwin Williams Petrochemicals in Middle East and Shell Corporation in Europe), Dr Kamsaris now serves as a board member and management consultant in Commercial and Construction businesses.
Since 2011, Dr. Kamsaris is a trainer and consultant in diverse and multicultural environments where coordination plays the major role. Examples are GCC countries such as KSA, UAE, Qatar, for ADNOC, ADMA, ADDC etc, and South East Asia countries such as Malaysia, Cambodia . His approach has proven to be of great value to the participating industries.
Dr. Kamsaris has completed postdoctoral education at Harvard University and has published in various business and academic journals.
Gina Cohen started her natural gas career when she helped establish the local branches of BG Group in Israel and Palestine in 1998, and moved on to become a private consultant a decade ago.
Gina has gained hands-on experience in the gas sector, having worked with major oil and gas companies on some of the largest and most challenging gas projects over nearly two decades.
Gina has been involved in all the aspects of the local natural gas market, either on behalf of governmental institutions or major oil and gas companies. Her work has spanned activities from Petroleum Laws, to Gas Law, to Fiscal Laws, to governmental debates on natural gas exports, or the regulatory and permitting processes for the construction and siting of the natural gas. She has carried out due diligence projects for FLNG in the US, feasibility studies on natural gas operated IPPs in Israel and Palestine and has been a consultant on gas sales and purchase negotiations either on behalf of buyers or sellers.
Gina is the Academic Manager in the Technion Sarona adult education centre and visiting lecturer of the gas course in the Master of Science Program at the Technion University in Israel. Gina has also delivered the gas course in the University of Cyprus.
A renowned international conference speaker on global gas matters and hydrocarbons developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, Gina is also the author of the Hebrew-English energy lexicon (www.hebrewenergy.com) used by all professionals in the Israeli petroleum sector.
Panos Papanastasiou is Professor in the Department of Civil and Engineering Engineering of the University of Cyprus. He is also the founding director of the Program Master in Petroleum Engineering. He served as Dean of the Engineering School from 2008-2012 and the founding Chairman of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering from 2002-2008 and also as the founding director of the program of Architecture from 2004-2008. He worked more than 15 years in the Oil & Gas industry as Research Scientist, Senior Research Scientist and Principal Research Scientist in the Research Center of Schlumberger in Cambridge, England from 1991 to 2002 and as consultant to Schlumberger in U.K. and Russia from 2002-2007. Since November 2011 is Advisor to the Government of Cyprus on Hydrocarbon exploration and development and gas monetization including LNG plant development. He received his first degree in Civil Engineering from NTU of Athens in 1984 and his M.Sc in 1986 and Ph.D in 1990 in Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota. He has published more than 50 articles in scientific journals and 70 articles conference proceedings and he invented 3 patents in the field of Petroleum Engineering. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and editorial advisor for the International Journal of Geomechanics published by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
